How to keep your drains clean ?

• Clean your Drain Stopper once a week

These drain stoppers stop the heavy substances from flowing into the drain pipeline. So the drain pipelines don’t get clogged. Usually substances like

• Hair
• Food Waste
• Small Plastic Wastes
• Dust Debris

These Substances are the common cause of clog within the drain pipeline, so a stopper prevents them from flowing into the drain line as long as the debris size isn’t smaller than the drain stopper flow holes. If you don’t remove this “gunk” from the drain stopper at least once a week, these cover the entire stopper flow pathway and the water doesn’t drain rather it gets clogged above the stopper.

• Flush your drain pipeline with hot water once a month

Hot water is effective against sticky food wastes and food oils/grease, as long as you don’t let them build up within the drain pipeline. So flushing your drain pipeline once in a while or once in a month based on the usage of your drain pipeline can help you keep your drain pipelines from getting clogged. If you’re cooking for more people like they do in restaurants, we recommend you to flush your pipeline with hot water everyday after all the work is complete.

How to remove drain blockage ?

• Clean the stopper

So once you have found your water is draining slowly. Check if there is any debris blocking the flow in the drain stopper. Clean the drain stopper and remove debris blocking the flow. Before going to the next step, check again if the flow is good and if you still face the clogging problem, then we would recommend you to follow the next steps for an immediate DIY fix to your drain blockage.

• Remove the debris

Remove the stopper and check for debris within the pipeline, do remove those debris as much as you could. 

• If it’s the drain pipeline of the kitchen, you can expect more food wastes & grease sticking to the pipeline.
• If it’s the bathtub or shower drain pipeline, you can expect lots of chemicals and hairs blocking your pipeline flow.

So do clean them with caution, you can smell a bad odor when cleaning them, it’s better to use a mask and gloves if you aren’t accustomed to those odd smells. Most importantly, you should wear gloves as the substances within the pipeline are a mixture of multiple chemicals.         

• Add Some Baking Soda/ Vinegar and pour hot water

Adding Vinegar/Baking Soda is one of the common traditional drain pipeline clog removers. They don’t affect the pipelines like the drain cleaners do, yet still we wouldn’t recommend you to use it frequently. After following the above two steps, add Vinegar/Baking Soda and wait for 30min before flushing it with hot water. It should remove the clogs caused by food wastes and small debris.
